The air enclosed between the two glass sheets is dried with a desiccant. Since the dry air enclosed between the glass sheets has a low thermal conductivity, the heat transfer through the window is greatly reduced. Tempered glass, laminated glass, reflective glass, low-e glass, tinted glass, or clear glass can be used.
